We understand that the term koinonia is a rather exotic term not used in everyday conversation. So, why use an unfamiliar term as a name for our church? Quite simply, the word captures the essence of what the ministry is all about. The New Testament part of the Bible was originally written in Greek, and the word koinonia was found fairly often especially in the letters of the Apostle Paul. By definition, koinonia means partnership, sharing, close fellowship, active communion and most of all, intimate participation. By virtue of its definition, we believe that koinonia is God’s way of expressing His love for all of humanity (you and I) in a tangible fashion. This is where we get the slogan of our ministry:
Embodying the love of Christ through caring relationships.
From what we have read, observed and learned from talking to people, the need for belonging or connecting to a caring community is a very common theme (along with the quest for truth). As social beings, we crave true, genuine community. Unfortunately, nowadays people have grown increasingly cold towards each other. At KWC, we don’t just verbally share with you the truth found in the Scriptures , we want you to experience it firsthand in a meaningful way. We invite you to join us in our spiritual journey as the Lord Jesus Christ, the Author of all Truth, leads the way, experiencing God together.
Our aim is to not simply be a church in the community, but a church of the community. As the name of our church implies, we desire to ‘partner’ with the community, ‘share’ with you God’s love, and build a strong sense of ‘communion’ to foster meaningful and lasting relationships.
