Who we are

Robert Legair, Lead Pastor

After committing his life to Christ as a child, Robert experienced a calling to the ministry in his mid-teens. He took his calling more seriously when he attended university in Toronto. Challenged with a serious introspection of his life, he was soon reminded of his call to ministry, and after a time of prayerful contemplation, he decided to answer it. Robert F. Legair graduated from York University in 1997 with an honours Bachelors of Arts degree in Political Science and the Humanities.

In 2001, Robert responded to an opportunity to minister overseas. Over the course of the Summer months he served in Nigeria, West Africa, as guest lecturer in the Full Gospel School of Theology in the city of Abak, located in the southern Aqua Ibom State. He also taught in the two satellite campuses located in Lagos, the country’s commercial centre in Western Nigeria, and Guseau, a city in northern Nigeria’s Muslim State of Zamfara.

In 2003, he acquired a Master of Divinity degree in counseling from Tyndale Seminary and has provided counselling to individuals, couples and families both in church and clinical settings. In 2004 he received his credentials as a minister of the Church of God, and year later received his ministerial license. In Feburary of 2010, Robert received his ordination.

In May of 2007, he published a book, entitled, “Harmless Dream or Urgent Wake-Up Call?” based on a vivid dream he had in August of 2006 that carried a compelling message for both Christians and non-Christians everywhere. A year after it was published, the book was entered in the annual contest for Christian authors hosted by the Christian book publishing company, Xulon Press, and became a winner of the 2008 Christian Choice Book Award.

Over the last 8 years he served in the prayer and teaching ministry at the Humberlea Church of God in Etobicoke, Ontario, where he met Vanessa who was also involved in several areas of leadership in the church. Together along with their beautiful little daughter, Zara, they have pioneered this new work in Georgetown, Ontario, known as Koinonia Worship Centre.

Vanessa Legair

I’ve grown up in church…literally. Surrounded by my parents, family, friends and mentors – who not only loved me but cared enough to teach and correct me – I have learned what it means to be a Christian and how to live it everyday. It’s been quite the journey and I can say without a doubt, “God is good!”

In addition to my day job, I’ve served in the Music, Children and Youth Ministries for a number of years; I was also a volunteer mediator and board chair for a community organization.

At home, I’m a proud mom and wife who enjoys cooking, couponing and family outings…and sleep!

I’m excited for what God is doing through Koinonia Worship Centre in Georgetown and hope to make your acquaintance soon.
